Greetings from the new home of Sunshine Corner Studios
The first half of 2018 has been a fantastic mix of music and inspiration.
We have been so lucky to have such great artists in the studio, including:
The mod legends have come to us to record their 5 album. We are two thirds through and it is sounding magnificent. One more session and then it's off to The Barn to record our special guests. Paul Weller, Steve Craddock & Steve Brookes
Another Mod legend, Mike has nearly finished his new solo album which is sounding amazing. A blend of MC5, Primal Scream and all things Mod/60's
THE PIRRIPS (Formally known as The SkaSouls).
This is their 2nd album recorded here and its an absolute belter! All original, and dripped in Ska and Reggae. Album launch date 25/08/2018

Their album has been years in the making but there is finally light at the end of the tunnel, and it's well worth the wait! Check them out on Facebook.
The 6th Friends album is in its closing stages. Once again featuring an array of amazing guests.
To be mixed with Dave White (when he returns from touring with Ed Sheeran)

'Sunshine Corner Studios... a hidden away gem that, like a precious stone sparkles, and massively embraces a tippermost toppermost vibe, a real working experience. Smiley 'George Martin' Barnard, I had never met before, although his name always praised and blessed by folks who told me we should all work together..... sometime..... Forward 20 yrs and we have truly arrived, and that isn't a crappy ego statement, it reflects the 'Smiley effect', this man is a true professional, with magical power to make a band feel its' worth and push 'em to places we should all visit and embrace. Amazing drum master, producer, engineer, vox , vibes and vocals, .... talent you can't put a price on and why should you, [ not jealous..... much ! ]
We are a band called Cow, and we have been lucky to record with producers with names under their belt such as Weller, Gallagher, Ray Davies, The Who... I kid you not, but Smiley is up there without a doubt with these producers. If you dont believe me or think i'm talking sh*t, check out ya selfs and check out this man and be educated! COW HQ x
'Working with Smiley at Sunshine Corner is always a buzz! He is always so positive and energetic, creating an atmosphere that is both productive and fun. I guess that comes with his years of experience working at a pro level, and whilst some could be snooty and arrogant, Smiley is down to earth and, well, Smiley!! Putting you at ease and making the vibe in the studio stress free and one to be reckoned with! He also makes a cracking cup of tea! Go to the place and experience all that is Sunshine Corner! You will not be disappointed! I'm there next week!'
- John James Newman (Marmelade & BBC1s 'The Voice')
'When I wanted to find the ideal place to record a song I had written for my granddaughter, I had some options but had a feeling Smiley's Sunshine Corner Studios would be the way to go, and WOW what brightness, magic and total professionalism did Smiley bring to the project. Some people have since said it's one of the best pieces of music I have created but that wouldn't be the case I am sure without the inspirational energy of Sunshine Corner Studios.'
- Ivan Chandler (Music Publisher)
'The high level of revolutionary disciple within Thee Faction and the stringent requirements we have of comrades we work with make it very difficult to find studios which will fit our ethos or political mission. We knew Sunshine Corner Studios was perfect the moment we walked in. Comrade Smiley handled the music, the politics and the historical mission with tremendous humour, confidence and comradeship. Thee Faction salute Comrade Smiley and commend his studio to anyone. There is no studio that feels better than Smiley's. Come the Great Day all studios will feel like Sunshine Corner, and all engineers will be like Comrade Smiley. Onward. Unto the Great Day.'
- Babyface (Thee Faction)
'When we came to record our debut album there was one one studio for us, Sunshine Corner Studios in deepest Fleet. With its mixing desk with genuine rock and roll history, top gear with a great choice of amps, guitars and a fantastic array of drums/cymbals, some of the best musical advice there is, and in Smiley a top bloke - who knows his onions and can create such a good vibe that you can't help but be inspired and give it your best! He's no slouch in the producer's chair either, all of this has contributed in our album 'Gentleman and Hooligans' receiving one glowing review after another and is being quite rightly (in our humble onion) hailed in some quarters as one of THE albums of 2012. Grab an earful on iTunes and Amazon.'
- Steve Kirk (Night of Treason)
'Put simply, a gentle creative vibe, excellent gear, genuine expertise and great tea and biscuits. Oh, and the best studio dog ever!'
- Marc Hockley (singer/songwriter)
'I've worked at Smiley's Sunshine Corner Studios many times. The studio sounds great, the vibe's great and Smiley's great! If you're looking for somewhere to record, don't hesitate!'
- James Stevenson (The Alarm)
'The hardest rocking corner of Hampshire... nice vibe and great sound'
- Richard Archer (Hard Fi)
